So... one thing I felt I was successful with this time around, is that I didn't need to amplify my contrast in photoshop, I was able to get enough contrast during the process of the digital painting, though I did do a bit of a glow from the window over most of the image. 

Another rough one, based off a picture a friend of mine sent me. It captured a nice moment in time.

Still in the Clouds

I started pushing some grays around in the screen until it evolved into this image. I was actually trying to stay away from the typical shafts of light, but once again, they came out in the painting. ha! No reference here. Just my head in the clouds. 

Blue Sky Studios

This is a painting I did today, looking straight outside my window from my computer here at work. Sooo...  Yeah, I have a nice scenic little view. The trick is trying to capture all the right colors. Those of you who know me can understand why this is such a challenge. 

I imagined  up this one as I was painting. I'm not sure how much further I'll take this one, but here it is. 

Trying something new in Maya. I just copied cubes over and over until I got the form, I wanted.

Uhhh.....Still experimenting with color I guess, that is what this one is about. ha!

This is a based off the old Norman Rockwell painting, most of the colors are directly from the painting. So not much creativity on that end, but I'm trying to replace the girl and guy with a friend of mine who just got married.

This painting is based off of a park that was close to my house growing up. It had a much larger patio that I modified to make it look a bit more quaint.

Planes, fly right by my window at work, all day long. So I thought I sketch out some planes today and then I worked on this little image.

This one is based off of a photo one of my parents took while hiking around Colorado. I love the little tree up on the bizarre little hill.

My main goal here was to see what I could do withsome atmosphere. This is based off a previous drawing I had done a while back.

Update. I found this picture of this kid in Veracruz that I liked, and wanted to add another layer of depth in the image. Then I adjusted some of the colors within the image. Better or worse?

This is a painting I did today of part of my last area in the mission I served for the LDS church. It brings back many fond memories. I'll look at this for a few days and figure out what I can improve on. 

Update. (I put another hour or so into this, main on the face and rock in the foreground. 

I just started this painting of my darling niece tonight. Although I'm not finished, I'm happy with the roughness in the background contrasting. Not sure how far I should take this piece. I think I'm going to lighten up the shadow side of her face under her nose. Any thoughts?

Here's my second painting, I did from a sketch I scanned in. Photoshop sure makes it pretty easy to get the right colors everywhere. Great help for a color blind artist. Ha.

Another Walk Test

The one thing I am happy about with this quick test, is the opening rotation of his body into the walk cycle. This was about a 20 minute animation.

Here are two more tests, I worked on yesterday. Obviously, going off model is easy to do when you're just trying to fly through this, while entertaining a baby on the side.

Flip Book Studio

I just got Flip Book Studio, which I'm pretty excited about. It's fun to dive into some 2D again. I can thank my friend Adam for that.  Thanks! This little test took just a few hours, nothing amazing, just getting use to the tools.
